Free Job Consultancies in Ahmedabad: Agencies That Do Not Charge Candidates

Eight Ahmedabad recruitment firms whose own websites state that job seekers are never charged, plus how to spot an agency that will ask you for money and what the rules actually allow.

Almost every recruitment agency in Ahmedabad is free to the candidate, because the employer pays. Contingency recruitment is charged to the hiring company at roughly 8.33% to 20% of the candidate’s first-year CTC, payable after you join; retained search is a fixed fee billed to the employer in tranches. Nothing in that model requires a rupee from you. So the phrase “free job consultancy” describes the normal arrangement rather than a special offer — the useful question is not which agencies are free, but which ones say so in writing and which ones quietly are not. Fees to job seekers are restricted by the state rules that govern private employment and placement agencies, which generally require such agencies to register and limit or prohibit charges to workers. If an agency asks you for money, ask it to point to the rule that permits the charge, and if you are unsure, ask the district labour office in Ahmedabad before you pay.

How we picked

We read the websites of every Ahmedabad firm on Veritas and kept only those whose own site states plainly that candidates are not charged. Eight qualify. That is a statement of what each company publishes, not a guarantee of how a particular branch or consultant behaves, and we have not tested it — if you are asked for a fee by a firm listed below, that contradicts its own published policy and is worth raising with the company and with us. Listings are ordered by the Veritas rank (moderated reviews, profile completeness, verification, freshness, demand; sponsors never affect it); all eight are currently tied, so we order by the number of Google reviews recorded during research where that count is 25 or more, then by the year the firm says it was established, then alphabetically. Eight Ahmedabad agencies that publish a no-fee policy

  • ManpowerGroup India (Ahmedabad branch) — the Indian arm of the global workforce group, with a branch at Ashwamegh Elegance opposite CN Vidyalaya in Ambawadi. The group states it does not charge candidates at any stage and warns that scams use its name, so enquiries should go only through its official domain. Recruits from entry level to CXO across manufacturing, BFSI, IT, energy, healthcare and logistics. 4.5 from 113 Google reviews.
  • Hirecrest Consulting Services LLP — an executive search and recruitment firm in Sankalp Iconic Towers on Ambli-Bopal Road, with separate IT and non-IT desks. It states that it never charges candidates, and publishes funnel figures for shortlisting, interview turnout, offer acceptance and joining. Three engagement types: permanent, project-based turnkey and bulk hiring. 3.5 from 25 Google reviews; parts of the site still carry template placeholder text.
  • Havoc Consultants Private Limited — operating from the 11th floor of Iconic Shyamal at Shyamal Cross Roads, Satellite, since 2000. It publishes a recruitment safety notice confirming that it never charges candidates any fee at any stage, and states a team of over forty consultants each covering an industry vertical. Handles permanent recruitment from managerial to CEO level, executive search and campus recruitment. 4.0 from 15 Google reviews.
  • Shayona Consultants — a Navrangpura firm established in 2006 and a member of the Executive Recruiters Association. Its website carries a prominent notice that job placement is free for candidates and asks anyone approached for a fee in the company’s name to report it on the published landlines or email. Specialises in sales and marketing hiring for FMCG, consumer durables, building materials, chemicals, garments, engineering, financial services and retail.
  • POST A RESUME HR Consultancy — recruiting for middle and senior management since 2007 from a corporate office in Ahmedabad, with a registered office in Rajkot and a team size band of 10–49. The site states that no fees are charged to candidates before or after placement. Sectors include engineering and EPC, pharma, IT, process manufacturing, chemicals, textiles and construction, with clients in India and Africa. Note that it does sell candidate-side services such as resume writing and career counselling separately from placement.
  • Alliance International Services — a manpower consultancy at Mondeal Square on the SG Highway in Prahlad Nagar, which states plainly that it never charges candidates for interviews or offers. Covers permanent recruitment, executive search for CEO, CTO, CFO and director roles, IT and contract staffing and RPO, with domestic coverage beyond Gujarat and client work in the UAE and Australia.
  • Mantras2Success — an executive search and recruitment firm in Titanium City Center, Prahlad Nagar, which states a commitment to ethical recruitment and does not charge candidates. Runs executive search, general recruitment, staffing, RPO and campus hiring, plus strategic HR consulting and a fractional CHRO offer, with mandates for India, the US, the UK, Australia and the Gulf.
  • Prydan Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd. — headquartered at Titanium City Centre on 100 Feet Anand Nagar Road, selling recruitment, staff augmentation and payroll as one stack, with an IT-heavy skew suited to Ahmedabad software firms and global capability centres. Candidates are not charged placement fees. Delivery presence in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi.

What we could not tell you

Most Ahmedabad agencies say nothing at all about candidate fees on their websites. Silence is not evidence of charging — the employer-pays model is the norm, and many firms simply never thought to state it. But it does mean we cannot list them here, and it means you should ask before you engage. Several firms in the city openly sell candidate-side services — resume writing, LinkedIn profile reviews, interview coaching — which are legitimate paid products in their own right and separate from placement. The line to watch is whether the payment is for a service you chose or a condition of being considered for a job.

How to spot an agency that will charge you

  • A registration fee to join the database. There is no legitimate reason to pay to have your CV on file. A recruiter earns from the employer.
  • A “security deposit” or refundable amount held until you join, or “returned if you are not placed”. Refunds of this kind are rarely paid and hard to enforce.
  • Any payment before a written offer exists. If there is no offer letter naming the employer, the role and the salary, there is nothing to pay for.
  • A share of your first salary. Sometimes framed as one month’s stipend or a percentage after joining. Ask for it in writing with a GST invoice, and expect the request to disappear.
  • Cash, UPI to a personal number, or no receipt. A legitimate business issues an invoice in its registered name.
  • Pressure and a deadline. “The employer needs the deposit today” is the oldest device in the trade.

If you are asked for money, you do not have to argue. Ask for the demand in writing on company letterhead with a GST invoice, and say you will check it with the labour office. That is usually the end of it.
