Cookie Policy

Veritas HR uses a small number of cookies, almost all of them needed to make logins, forms and voting work. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not load third-party trackers. Last updated: 2 September 2026.

Cookies we set

  • WordPress login and session cookies (names beginning wordpress_ and wp-settings-). Set when you log in; they keep you signed in and remember your admin-screen preferences. Removed when you log out or, at most, after 14 days. Necessary.
  • Comment cookies (comment_author_*). Set only if you tick the box to remember your details on a review form. Optional.
  • veritas_ cookies. Short-lived cookies set by our own directory plugin to stop a form being submitted twice, to rate-limit enquiries and requests, and to guard against repeat upvotes. They contain a random token or a one-way hash, not your identity, and expire within 24 hours. Necessary.
  • Cloudflare (__cf_bm, cf_clearance). Set by Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site, to tell people from bots and to remember that you passed a Turnstile check. Necessary; expire within 30 minutes to a day.
  • Analytics — off until you accept. When you accept analytics in the banner we load Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and Hotjar. Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_<stream id> (2 years) and _gid (24 hours). Microsoft Clarity sets _clck (1 year), _clsk (1 day), and MUID and CLID on Microsoft domains (up to 13 months). Hotjar sets _hjSessionUser_<site id> (1 year) and _hjSession_<site id> (30 minutes). Clarity and Hotjar also record how you move and scroll through a page. None of these load, and none of these cookies are set, unless you accept analytics. Optional.

Similar storage: your browser’s local storage may hold a flag recording your analytics choice so that we do not ask again.

How to control them

  • Analytics is opt-in. Decline in the banner, or change your mind later using the “Cookie settings” link in the site footer.
  • Necessary cookies cannot be switched off from the site, but you can block or delete them in your browser settings (Chrome: Settings › Privacy and security › Cookies; Safari: Preferences › Privacy; Firefox: Settings › Privacy & Security). If you do, you will not be able to log in, submit forms or vote.
  • Logging out removes the login cookies straight away.
