Their charge is a service fee, usually 6–12% on the gross salary plus employer PF, ESIC and gratuity provisioning, all shown separately on the monthly invoice. Where twenty or more contract workers are engaged, the principal employer must hold a registration under the Contract Labour Act and the contractor a licence, so ask for the licence number and check that PF and ESIC challans are shared every month. Timely wage payment and Form 16 issuance are common friction points; ask how the firm handles them.
