About Cloud

Cloud-hosted HR software is now the default choice in India: no servers to maintain, automatic statutory updates, mobile access for employees and predictable subscription costs. The questions that remain are about data and continuity. Ask where data is hosted, since many vendors use AWS or Azure regions in Mumbai, Hyderabad or Pune, and whether the contract commits to Indian residency; what the uptime commitment is and how payroll deadlines are protected during outages; whether the vendor holds ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification; how backups, encryption and access logs work; and what the DPDP Act obligations look like when the vendor acts as a data processor. Regulated buyers in banking and insurance face additional RBI and IRDAI outsourcing requirements.

Products listed here are cloud-hosted, and each card shows the hosting region where disclosed, pricing model, starting price, moderated reviews and upvotes. Reviews from IT and HR administrators that mention outages, data export experiences and security questionnaires are useful complements to the vendor’s own claims.

Frequently asked questions

Is employee data stored in India with cloud HR software?

Most Indian vendors host on cloud regions within India, and many global vendors offer an Indian region on request. The DPDP Act permits cross-border transfer except to restricted countries, but sector regulators and customer contracts may require Indian residency, so get the commitment in writing.

What security certifications should a cloud HR vendor have?

ISO 27001 is the baseline expected by most Indian enterprises, with SOC 2 Type II increasingly requested. Ask for penetration test summaries, encryption at rest and in transit, role-based access with audit logs, and a documented incident response process with breach notification timelines.

What happens to our data if we leave the vendor?

A good contract guarantees export of all data in standard formats within a defined period, deletion certification afterwards and reasonable transition assistance. Check retention obligations too, since payroll records must be kept for several years under tax and labour laws.
